The weather in my area has been hectic for me and my family since winter first kicked in. This year’s winter feels colder than the previous winters. Yesterday I left my gas heater running the whole day - and night, set at ninety degrees! So I will be expecting a big bill on my next bill from my gas provider - which bums me out because I am a stay at home mom and the husband is the only one bringing in income. And since it’s winter and like I said - the weather has been hectic, my husband’s job has cut down hours because of the weather.

You already know the many reasons why you should quit smoking (emphysema, lung cancer, and heart disease, to name just a few), but did you know that smoking also stinks for your sex life? It’s true: Smoking has some real costs for your sexual and reproductive health.
For starters, women who smoke have a higher risk of infertility, since smoking can impair ovulation and affect both the quality and quantity of eggs. Smokers who do conceive are more prone to problems during pregnancy, such as miscarriage, low birth weight, and preterm labor. Smokers who take birth control pills have a risk of a heart attack that’s ten times greater than it is for pill users who don’t smoke. And finally, women who smoke have a higher risk of both early menopause and osteoporosis.
In fact, smoking is much more destructive to a woman’s body than it is to a man’s, since nicotine and the hundreds of other chemicals in cigarette smoke pass through the bladder and urethra, damaging the reproductive tissues. Smoking also diminishes circulation, which is essential for good sexual function.
The good news is that it’s never too late to quit! Ten years after kicking the habit, your risk of lung cancer drops to the same level it would be if you’d never smoked. Your risk of heart disease does the same after 15 years. Fortunately, the benefits for your sexual health follow suit.

I’ve heard many stories on how fun paintball can be - believe me, my little brother is a paintball player and he tells me all the fun experiences he had with paintballing. I’m a 21 year old mother, but after hearing all his stories, I always wanted to try paintballing. Who said mom’s can’t have fun! Once of these days, I will try it out, it’s on my fifty things to do before I die list - yeah, I got one of those lists too! Remember getting that special valentine in middle school? Or how about your first love letter? There is a special place in the heart for words written or received from a person you adore. And although today we have e-mails and text messages, nothing quite replaces a handwritten love letter. Maybe it’s the handwriting itself that makes it so special. I’d like to also travel to New York for their tall buildings, and I’m pretty sure they made the two towers a memorial site ground by now, so I’d like to see that also. Last but not least, I’d like to travel to Colorado. I heard the scenery is beautiful and the whole enviroment and sorroundings are just wildlife like. Now that’s something interesting and worth traveling for!

We’ve been fed a steady diet of “Sex and the City” and single-woman sexual empowerment. But can women really have casual sex like men?
Female/Woman evolutionary background suggests that the deck is stacked against us. When girl meets boy (and girl likes boy), the brain releases a chemical love cocktail: Dopamine produces feelings of bliss, norepinephrine makes the heart race, and we are driven to want sex. Then, during sex, the brain triggers the release of oxytocin, the warm fuzzy of the hormone world, which leaves us wanting to bond with the person we’ve just done the horizontal mambo with. These are primitive urges that have helped ensure the survival of our species.
The problem is that oxytocin may have a more powerful effect on women, at least initially. The theory is that testosterone (which men have more of) turns off oxytocin, making women more sensitive to oxytocin’s effects. So although you may intellectually and even emotionally approach sex with a no-strings-attached attitude, these primal brain circuits can override the decision.
Of course, brain chemistry cannot explain everything and there are times when recreational sex is just that recreational. However, as anthropologist Helen Fisher puts it, be careful about having sex with people you don’t want to fall in love with because you may end up doing just that!

As women see their bodies changing with age, many start severely limiting their diets to hang onto youth.
It’s important to find a way to stay fit without going to an unhealthy extreme. Anorexia, bulimia, and excessive exercise all, ironically, accelerate the aging process. If you or someone close to you seems to be engaging in unhealthy food or exercise behaviors, know that eating disorders may not be just a young woman’s struggle anymore — and that you should seek help from a doctor or therapist to ensure good health for years to come.
